On October 19, 2011 at 6 p.m., Soccer Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SSVCF) held its fourth annual event in tandem with the San Jose Earthquakes Foundation inside the magnificent Rotunda designed by world-renowned architect Richard Meier at San Jose City Hall, 200 East Santa Clara Street in downtown San Jose.
This year's event featured the presentation of Earthquakes annual player awards and the premiere of City of Champions: 2001, A San Jose Soccer Odyssey--a major History San Jose exhibit in City Hall celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Quakes' first MLS Cup title in 2001. The keynote speaker was San Jose Earthquakes legend Troy Dayak.
As always, this event was a wonderful opportunity to socialize with Earthquakes players past and present while supporting SSVCF's charitable efforts in "building community through soccer," including our signature project bringing deserving youth from various Bay Area non-profits to every Quakes games courtesy of the fans in the SSV Kidzone. Dinner and a silent auction were again included.
